ABOUT SARAH

Hello, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Sarah Kambouris. I am a local artist located in Accord which is within the Hudson Valley Region. My father is from Kalymnos, Greece and my mother was from Staten Island. They met when my father first came to this country in 1979. That is when their journey began, nearly 43 years ago. They got married in 1980, had my brother in 1981. They lived in Staten Island for 5 years because my father was a carpenter in Manhattan until my mother realized that my father's work schedule in the city was not conducive to raising my brother, George. So, they decided to come upstate where my Mother's parents had a second home. They have been here ever since and in 1986 which is when my father opened his business, A&G Custom Made Furniture, Corp. Once they got comfortable upstate, I was born in 1987 in Stone Ridge. I am proud to say still to this day my father is still operating his shop along with my Brother. We have 2 other family businesses, Accord Plaza Feeds and Bare Furniture. I myself opened Bare Furniture when I was nearly 18 years old. Obviously with the support and help of my parents. Bare Furniture is an unfinished furniture store for which, you guessed it.............I finish all the furniture myself for the customers who prefer for us to do it. I love my business and I am able to be creative which I love. My art however I use as an outlet; I am able to express myself within my paintings as well as my drawings. The funny thing is my paintings are abstract and my drawing are realism. Two very different styles however I use both for various emotions. When I am sad or depressed, I tend to want to draw. When I am overwhelmed, content and/or happy I tend to paint.
